The Potbelly has been serving patrons since 1976, making it Canberra’s most enduring pub or bar. The establishment and the street itself has a very colourful history. DAMS was commissioned to create a new identity for the tavern, the associated brewery and a future distillery.
At the core of the brief was to go back to the tavern’s heritage and make visible the story behind the tavern’s ‘pregnant forms’ found throughout its unchanged interiors.
While realised only in part, the new identity’s potential lies in linking the past with a contemporary clientele.
